Peanut Blossom Cookies

AKA Peanut Butter Cookies with the Hershey Kiss!  This is such a classic yummy cookie.  I'm writing down the recipe as this blog is also my "paperless" recipe box.  I will tell you that if you need a "cheat" and don't have time to go 100% homemade - the peanut butter cookie mix in the baking section makes an awesome substitute - just mix according to package directions.

1/2 c. sugar
1/2 c. brown sugar
1/2 c. shortening
1/2 c. peanut butter
1 egg
2 T. milk
1 t. vanilla
1 3/4 c. flour
1t. baking soda
1/2 t. salt

sugar

Hershey Kisses, unwrapped

Preheat oven to 375.

In a large bowl, cream together sugars, shortening and peanut butter.  Add the egg and milk.  Sift together flour, soda and salt.  Add to mix.  Roll dough into 1 inch balls and roll in sugar.  Set on baking sheet and bake 8-10 minutes.  Let cool 1 minute and remove from pan and set on wax paper.  Immediately top with Hershey Kiss.  Allow cookies to completely cool before moving - chocolate will be melted and lose it's shape if not careful.
