Peppermint Christmas Candy

For the rest of November, I am helping you get a jump start on holiday baking recipes.  I'll be sharing candies, cookies, snack mixes for delicious treats to share and enjoy with loved ones.

Peppermint Christmas Candy
1 24-oz. package of vanilla candy melts/almond bark
10 candy canes crushed

Line 15x10 jelly roll pan with waxed paper.  Melt candy melts using your favorite method (microwave, double boiler).  Stir in candy cane pieces.  Spread thinly onto wax paper.  Let set until candy is firm.  Break into pieces and store in airtight containers.

Oreo Truffles and Cake Balls

Here are 2 easy desserts I made at Christmas time.

Oreo Truffles
1 package of Oreos, crushed in food processor
2 12oz containers of whipped cream cheese

Mix all and chill. Roll into balls. Dip in melted white chocolate and let set.

Cake Balls (from allrecipes.com)
1 cake mix baked according to package directions. (I used Red Velvet)
1 container of icing (I used cream cheese)

Bake cake. While warm, crumble into a bowl and add icing. Mix all. Chill mix and then roll into balls. Dip into melted chocolate or white chocolate. For mine I used the white chocolate.
This recipe works with any cake/icing/dipping chocolate combo. Be creative!
